The study highlights how the substitution of internal combustion engine vehicles with zero emission vehicles generally results in a decrease in harmful particulate matter and other pollutants like nitrogen oxides – thereby reducing overall exposure for people on the road.  

What impact does all of this have on health? The answer is simple - dirty air is bad for health. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), air pollution is responsible for approximately 7 million premature deaths globally every year. More people die every year from air pollution than from road accidents and alcohol abuse combined.
